We're going to be driving down to play tourist in the DC area on the week before Labor day - the first week of Sept. We're going with my in-laws and have a two room suite booked at Quantico (nice thing about having an army retiree for a father-in-law).
Looking at the map, there's a VRE station right there... and my son is a train fanatic. It'd be a heck of a lot easier to take the train in, I remember that from when I lived in Mt. Vernon! Problem is that the train only runs through Friday, which leaves the weekend with us driving to either Franconia/Springfiled or Huntington station and parking. It's going to be four adults and two kids (7 and 4) - our goal is to have an easy visit, going to the museums and/or zoo depending on weather and how we feel. Any suggestions?
