Will you have strollers for the kids? My vote is to minimize the stuff on the Mall and the surrounding area when you have small kids, or take a guided tour for most of it- otherwise it's just way too much walking for the kids (and maybe the adults). You can always get the multi-day Metro passes, but check the prices, you have to use the Metro quite a bit for them to be a better deal than just paying for each fare. My daughter loves the Natural History Museum, the east wing of the National Gallery of Art (the modern stuff), the Hirschorn Gallery of Art (also modern). Air and Space is good, too, of course. Those four are "reasonably" close together on the Mall. Despite having lived in DC for years, I have never been to the zoo, but that's always a good option for kids. Maybe current DC locals have other thoughts, as my knowledge is potentially a bit out of date. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
