When someone is upset with a president to the point of crazy, they
usually go after the president, not a general target (think Reagan).
The venomous media narrative against Bush didn't spawn off crazies to
perform attacks like this. I don't think that the media narrative
against Obama has sunk to the Bush level just yet.

While the media may have had an effect, I'd say it was more because of
crazy than the media. If it was the media then we would expect a LOT
more events like this. Maybe it was the lack of sunlight during the
winter. Maybe it was the lack of physical contact with others.

Bottom line is that I don't blame the media for this. People who are
so engrossed by the continuous media exposure tend to be loud but not
physically active. They rant online but do they actually go out an
protest? Those that physically protest are such a small percentage of
America that there would be almost no statistical significance.

We're a nation of loud couch potatoes. :)
