from what little I know of the area, I can see how such a control
system can happen. Just look how perfectly rational people become
frothing at the mouth psychotic extremists when you want to restrict
their right to own siege cannon and ATGM's.

All mocking aside however, the mechanisms have been worked out years
ago. What you're seeing with the Islamicists is taking a lot of those
ideas, theories, principles and techniques, then figuring a way to
apply them in unexpected ways.

I think that you'll see a lot of correspondences etween those kids
following radical Islam and those following such groups as the WAR and
Aryan Resistance. Such factors as psychological isolation from the
mainstream; or never connecting in the first place. On top of that
then you get hit with charismatics preaching a fanatic belief. There
are not many other steps to being a suicide bomber if there is a
religious encouragement, or other similar fanatic involvement.
