I personally feel your feelings against the person on the radio have shaped
all of your judgements.

Including characterizing their laughs as "giggling", where "chuckling" or
"laughing" might also been appropriate, shows where you have come down on
judging them.

You assume that they repeatedly lied to their leaders, with the intention of
getting illegal permission to shoot people, like pulling the legs off an
ant.

I would assume, if they did in fact lie or even just overstate, their
command would have ripped them a new one. I don't know a single noncomm or
officer that enjoys getting lied to. We have not heard anything about that,
to date.

You assume that they shot up the van for enjoyment, just to kill, like
drowning a cat. And that they knew the kids were in the van.

I would assume that the fact that there were US units in ground vehicles
seconds away, that they had just taken down a group of armed bad guys (that
IS what they thought, I believe), and that a black van came out of nowhere
and pulled up and started loading the wounded guy that was trying to get
away, and that there were known weapons laying around, made those in the air
think that the black van was part of the bad guys and a continuing danger,
and not a medical evacuation vehicle driven by a good Samaritan with kids in
the car that would be fun to shoot up.

You could be right, and they might be crazy, or have slipped the leash, or
just bad at their job. But with the amount of outside heat this has ALREADY
generated, I HAVE to assume that the leadership above them also looked into
all that, and have taken the steps to see that it only happens again if it
has to. Unless you believe that everyone above them is also evil, and likes
shooting kids.
