Apple isn't doing generic multitasking, looks like you don't get to
just say "new thread()" in your code, but instead has made 7 api's for
common tasks available that can background the task. Looks like a
pretty well thought out and slick way to deal with the issue,
honestly.

As for windows mobile, curiously enough, the upcoming new MS phone OS,
actually there will be two of them, Pink and Windows Phone 7, does
away with multitasking. A fascinating thing since Windows Phone 7
won't be available until the end of the year and iPhone OS 4 will be
available in the summer. Seems like a rather bad decision on the part
of MS but they haven't done a whole lot right in the mobile device
area.
