You shouldn't lose your stuff, but you might want to follow up with them

My Account was hacked about two months ago, and I hadn't played in about a
month at the time.  When I did get back in, after changing my  passwords and
waiting the time specified by Blizzard, all my stuff was there, as well as
about 12 other characters I didn't create.

Since I have no idea how my account was hacked (although I possibly think it
was through a guild) can't say what else to do (It just so happens that I
had formatted and installed the full version of Windows 7 between the last
time playing and the message re: my account :) )
