You should get most of your stuff back...though the process is long and
drawn out as Blizzard doesn't maintain the info in a very efficient manner.
I would highly recommend getting the authentication key. There is also a
mobile app for this, so check that before you buy. The mobile app is a bit
limited in the phones it's supports. Blizzard security with just the login
and passwords sucks big time. Most of that is getting hacked from their
end, not yours (though they claim they are not at fault...yeah). Just
contact Support and they will remove the ban and then you can contact a Game
Master to get your stuff restored.

You shouldn't lose your stuff, but you might want to follow up with them

My Account was hacked about two months ago, and I hadn't played in about a
month at the time. When I did get back in, after changing my passwords and
waiting the time specified by Blizzard, all my stuff was there, as well as
about 12 other characters I didn't create.

Since I have no idea how my account was hacked (although I possibly think it
was through a guild) can't say what else to do (It just so happens that I
had formatted and installed the full version of Windows 7 between the last
time playing and the message re: my account :) )

Cheers,

Rob
