How's that? The north has both agriculture and industry as well as seaports
on both coasts. The major rail hub is in Chicago, so internal material
movement is already taken care of. The red states represent that largest
drain on Medicare and welfare funds. They pretty much already have the
American Taliban set up in many places...if the red states were a government
of it's own, Taliban states like Texas would overwhelm the rest of the
country and that would quickly devolve into a fascist Christian
dictatorship, kinda like how the ideals of the Bolshevik revolution
(Freedom, liberty, equality) quickly devolved into a Marxist dictatorship.

Eh, wrong on several counts there.

1) You don't need to understand how life got to the state it's in now to
understand what it IS now. Biotech would advance just fine without it even
in the unlikely event that evolution got taken out of those schools.

2) Conservative != Christian

3) Even if they ended up with a Christian theocracy it wouldn't be like the
Taliban.

4) Neither side would last 20 years before they were third world countries.

The economic ideals of extremists would take care of that in under a decade
for BOTH groups. The conservatives would destroy their economy on pointless
wars sold to the public as fighting terrorism when in fact the goal is to
get more oil. The liberals would destroy thier's with welfare programs run
rampant.
