They don't do it face to face.  They put it in the want adds.

status alone isn't the only factor.  Alot of other things matter like what
the local job market is like, what industry you are in, how long the person
has been unemployed...  Sometimes someone chooses to be unemployed for
awhile.  In an area like Detroit I would expect to find alot of good
candidates who've been unemployed for a long time.  In an area like Atlanta
I would expect to find some people who may have a shorter period of
unemployment (in the tech industry), but few with really long periods."


Yeah, there might be some validity to not hiring some of the unemployed
people, but there is no need to ban all unemployed before you start.  Being
in the position to do the hiring, you get to evaluate each potential
person.

Seems like it would be a PR nightmare to have a policy like this.
