I already answered that. Multiple times: "In my opinion, be the person left, right, democratic party member, republican, libertarian, green or even purple, he went well beyond acceptable as a congressional representative. There are more that a few reenactor groups that do WWII German units, but they are wehrmacht units not Waffen SS."
In other words if Iott simply wanted to portray a German soldier of that time there are quite a few groups that do that sort of thing. The fact that he chose a group that choose to base themselves on an SS division that was (1) on the Eastern Front exclusively; (2) was at the center of more than a few atrocities, and (3) was affiliated with Robert Mengle is very telling. larry On Tue, Oct 12, 2010 at 1:56 PM, Scott Stroz <[email protected]> wrote: > > Larry - there are groups that reenact the same battles annually - The > battle of the Bulge, Iwo Jima, The invasion at Normandy, Operatio > Market Garden, etc. Should we not allow anyone to portray a German or > Japanese soldier more than once in these annual events? > > Once again, are you saying that when trying to portray a historical > event, we should not include anyone who was particularly nasty? > Imagine a World War II movie that simply omitted Hitler because he was > a bad guy. > > The people who organize these events strive for historical accuracy, > something I would like to think you would appreciate.
