Rommel is very much a special case and can't be used to say that the
army knew little of the SS's activities. The SS was part of the army.
Just not answerable to most in the army hierarchy.

As for Rommel and the Jews:
"...his refusal to comply with an order from Hitler to execute Jewish
POWs. During Rommel's time in France, Hitler ordered him to deport the
country's Jewish population; Rommel disobeyed the order. Several times
he wrote letters protesting against the treatment of the Jews..."
