All joking aside, any time I've been in a similar situation I always try to
take the professional magnanimous role. No real sense twisting the knife.
Thank them for their x years of excellent service they've provided and just
let them know that as your organizational needs have changed as a company
you've chosen to bring the I.T. services in house or some such nonsense. If
you are switching vendors you can say that the other is a better fit or will
better foster growth or some other corporate bs. Unless you are hell bent on
making a show of "you're fired" I'd just try to be the "it's not you it's
me" guy.
