You'll recall that Gen Clark was Supreme Commander of the NATO forces and famously told Milosevic something like this, "I've got the ok to bomb you, and if they tell me to bomb you, I'm going to bomb you good"
Turning dictatorships into democracies is tricky business and dependent on thousands of things. The only democracies that have worked in the Middle East have been when they themselves kill each other to get them (Turkey). Libya is country with zero economic infrastructure (i.e., nobody can take care of themselves) and political forces currently unknown to them much less us. Our goal should be to help them become democratic. The problem is, we have NO IDEA if our military involvement will get us closer or farther to/from that goal. First, do no harm. Thus my point is, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Thinking our well-intended action will have the intended consequences when we cannot even comprehend the basic forces at play would be risky at best. What is my principle? Pragmatism. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:334941 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
