I'm sure the Soviets said the same thing, many times. That's the tough thing. I believe that the system is more resilient than many believe. There have always been Cassandra's prophesying doom. On the other hang, things really do fail. Nations fail, economic systems collapse, empires crumble..it is a fact of history. So, how do you divine the difference between a system capable of self-stabilizing that is going through a nasty patch versus a system that is nose diving...before collapse actually happens instead of in retrospect?
