I agree with all of this. I was surprised and had a bunch of feelings that mixed sadness and a bit of gladness that at least one thing was accomplished.
Of course the way in which this went down raises a large number of questions. Bin Laden wasn't in a cave in Tora Bora, he and his family were living in a 3-story house in a well fortified compound deep inside Pakistan. They were some 70 miles from the capital and surprisingly near an important military installation. People had long believed he was being sheltered by Taliban supporters in the largely independent areas of northern Pakistan near the Afghanistan border but that wasn't true at all, he was in the heart of the country supposedly ruled by the government. I think it was an important step and I'm glad that it is done but there is a lot still to be done. I am hopeful that the information captured in the building proves very fruitful and that we make greater strides forward to shutting down their network as a result.
