You know, I never stopped to think about it, but most people, including me, still think of it as us and "them" ... those people over there. A stable Middle East is in everyone's best interests.
Before they started protesting, I felt like we were forcing change and introduction to the "modern" world. If it's something they want and it's something we want, then there really is no more us and them. Sure, it is an ugly mess. I don't expect that the heavens will open suddenly and shine the light of god down upon the land while a chorus of angels sings in a new era, but changing the way we think while they are changing the way they think is a good start. That is the way it should be, anyway. I prefer that to, "There is money to be made!", or "Just bomb all them backwards fuckers and get it over with." So, Osama is gone. Whoopie.
