Ok, let's extend your metaphor. Some drug dealer shows up, takes you and your family hostage, and uses your house to store their weapons. Then the cops show up. You did not consent for the weapons to be stored there, and are innocent of any wrongdoing. Yet in their zeal to take out anyone who might pose a threat, whether that threat is immediate or not, they bomb your house even though they know you and your innocent family are inside, and kill all of you.
The drug dealers stored some contraband. The cops killed innocents. I would say the crimes of the cops are worse than the crimes of the drug dealers. This is not radically different from some of the activity in both Palestine and Iraq. In both cases, the killing of innocents is wrong and unnecessary.
