I'm working on a site specification document and RFP and since I've been "out" of the web world for a couple of years working only on internal stuff I wanted to make sure my memory still matches what's current. There are three things that I'm worried about at this point and I wanted to get some input before I stuck my foot in it.
First is a reasonable expectation for receiving a proposal. The project at hand can be summarized as a modified CMS with a document and video library plus hosting and copy writing support. How long should I give prospective vendors to send back a proposal? Next is the question of compatability. Right now I have this: "The site must render in an identical manner in all current web browsers, including Internet Explorer (versions 8 and higher), Mozilla Firefox (versions 10 and higher) as well as the most recent versions of Google Chrome and Apple Safari.' Is something like that unreasonable to expect? Lastly is the specter of accessibility. I remember reading a ton about ADA compliance. Where does this issue stand in new development for private companies? Thanks! Until Later! C.
