I blame Lincoln.

Everything has gone down hill post reconstruction. Slavery, racism and
women's rights needed to be dealt with, and could have been better. There
needed to be less religious based laws at local and state level, and there
were certainly problems, but from the standpoint of liberty for the most,
things were much better.

The slow encroachment against our rights has been going on since the day
the constitution was ratified. The speed of encroachment has only
increased with time.

The framework is very much in place for this to be a total police state
right now today, they just aren't flexing their legislated muscles just yet.

Wait.
