I think most people wouldn't have an issue with that. The problem is that they restricted it to a very small set of id's that have to have your current address. If they allowed any government issued ID or government id, school, ids, etc....as well as alternate ways of proving who you are like using utility bills, you probably wouldn't hear a peep about voter ID laws.

Is buying groceries a matter of national security? No. Are the groceries at the commissary less expensive than off post? Usually not, but the money I save not driving a few miles away to a good neighborhood to shop offsets the price difference. Point being, if you are eligible to vote in the US, then have ID to vote. No ID, no vote.
