I cannot help but laugh out loud whenever someone refers to the founders and their principles as conservative.
They were revolutionaries. They overthrew the government. And the principles they enshrined in the constitution were extremely radical for the times. They weren't even fiscal conservatives. Read the Federalist Papers. Jefferson has been described as a small government conservative, when in reality his position was a lot closer to radical anarchy - if the government is not acting on the behalf of the people, throw it out. Also laughable is the current uproar over the election by those who claim to be constitutional conservatives. The election was held exactly as outlined in the constitution, yet they claim it is un-American simply because they don't like the results. They are either blindingly ignorant, or so soaked in the swill of propaganda that they can no longer tell the difference. The PEOPLE have spoken.
