To be really honest, I'm almost past the point of caring. I live in one 
of the CF Hotbeds, Washington DC and my phone and email are blown up at 
least once a day with calls for Senior CF Developers..  there are jobs 
out there.. As a matter of fact the company that I work for is actively 
looking for ColdFusion developers for a DHS contract...

I think the biggest naysayers are the body shops who can't find 
developers willing to pull up stakes an move half way across the country 
for a three month contract.

Ben Forta said it best, and I'm paraphrasing "As long as CF is 
profitable, Adobe will continue to support it".

In my opinion, I think that we as the community should be more vocal and 
not depend on Adobe to market. "Marketing" for PHP, Ruby etc, is driven 
by the developer communities why shouldn't CFML be as well..  Maybe, we 
should achieve that separation between the language (CFML) and a 
particular engine (Adobe ColdFusion), and vocalize the merits of the 
language, and let the client dictate the implementation..

Also.. we should lay some of this burden at the feet of those involved 
with Railo and Open Blue Dragon.... Railo does some marketing but I've 
seen very little from the OBD folks...

all this is just my own opinion, I'm sure there are others
