I know a lot of people that don't go to conferences...me included. Besides
the high cost, they are usually out of state. When they had conferences in
Chicago back in the late 90's,I used to go. I was also working for a
company that paid for them rather than doing contract work.

Yes there are, but at the same time Northern Virginia has many companies
that use CF that has nothing to do with the defense or state. I spent some
time doing the technical interviews - helping a buddy who was looking for a
senior CF developer. I was appalled at the lack of knowledge many of the
candidates displayed. One of the questions (I didn't write them btw) asked
was whether they were a part of a user group. One person said yes - the
Maryland group. When asked about any CF related conferences, not one said
yes.

We're going to be moving to the meeting place to the Tyson's Corner area.
I'm meeting with the person volunteering the space this Sunday to iron out
details but I'm hoping that this may attract more people.
The online sessions are a good idea. I'll have to explore that more.
