having worked at all sorts of union jobs, I'd like to qualify that one a bit
more, the local reps usually very good, the rot starts in the next tier up.
Same with many corporations, and similar large organizations. Whenever
something gets too hierarchical then the goal typically is maintaining power
and privilege.
