Marriage is not a Christian concept. Marriage existed long before
Christianity was a mote in YHVH's eye...so Christianity...or any other faith
for that matter, does not have exclusive rights on the concept or the word.

Pardon the pun, but it goes both ways.

I have the same reaction when I see two guys kiss as you do with not quite
the same ability to suppress it (though I like broccoli, especially with
cheese sauce). I have a similar reaction when they say they are married...
and to a much lesser extent refer to their "husband". The source for the
first reaction is the emotional, though it may well be social or genetic
(depends on your interpretation, I don't tend to dwell on the starting
point).

For the second reaction it's theologically driven. I don't have a different
definition of "marriage" and "holy matrimony", both have the same meaning
for me from a religious perspective. It is that perspective that drives the
emotional response to the use of the language in this scenario.

Every cloud does have a silver lining. Sometimes you just have to do some
smelting to find it.
