Darned if I know. That is one of the bigger debates in the field right
now. I'm tempted to go to a couple of the conferences on the
psychology of ideology  just to see what the real cutting edge
research is finding.

My own uninformed/unsupported opinion is that physiology comes first.
Nature then nurture.
