Subject: Manners and Courtesies (was Re: Super Duper Controversial
post....heheh)

That's one of the reasons I'm not for sending my daughter to a private
school or doing homeschooling. I know that children need social
interaction in order to be socially functional, however there are things

that happen in public schools that I really don't agree with.

Veering from the topic of homosexuality, I'll bring up the subject of
manners and courtesies. Let me ask these questions of the guys on this
list... a little informal survey:

- When you are leaving someplace and there are people behind you,
regardless of gender, do you hold the door for them?

Yes....always I hold the door until everyone who is behind me is
out....to an extent.

- If you see someone holding a door that you are going through and there

are more people behind you, do you offer to "catch it" for them?

Yes.

- (For those with families) Do you eat a meal at a dinner table? Is it
propper to wear a hat or cap (non-religous) during the meal?

I have always took my hat off....my father would never let me wear a hat
at a meal.

- When addressing someone, are the words "sir" and "ma'am" used?

Yup.

I'll stop there... there are tons of examples of respects, courtesites
and manners that are considered "old school" that I personally don't
think should disappear.

Hatton
