Aside from the acoustic arrangements, Halos & Horns sounds more like her latter-day country-pop albums, with an unusual mixture of covers (Bread's If, Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven) and original songs that date back to her teen years. Parton's Stairway makes explicit the song's veiled spirituality by rewriting the final section and adding a gospel choir.
