good point whatever happened to online-searchable microfiche <grin>? (probably way more expensive than disk)
the other poster was right - my bank outsources their web site. don't know about the VISA issuer. re: storage - my bank now sends "check images" back with the statement, all printed on 3-hole-punched 8-1/2 x 11 paper. They even provide free 3-ring binders with their name/logo. Apparently, the mini front/back check images are legal for proof of payment, and a lot easier to file. -Ben > Oh, I defintely agree that the system is good in general - it just > seemed silly that I couldn't find 'old' date (mind you, this is only > 9-10 months ago) - and it seemed real silly when I couldn't find it at > both my bank and my credit card site - and when I called them directly. > I understand now from the other poster that they have to archive stuff, > but I find it hard to imagine that their own support people can't have > direct access to it. > > -rc > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > > Sent: Thursday, September 05, 2002 4:13 PM > > To: CF-Community > > Subject: Re: arg - online banking my rear... > > > > > > rc- > > > > I understand your frustration, but I don't use online > > banking as "archival storage". > > > > So what's it good for? > > > > - looking at txns frequently to make sure no fraud on > > the account > > > > - paying bills electronically > > > > - verifying whether a particular bill got paid > > > > - transferring money between accounts > > > > - making sure the Direct-Deposit paycheck made it in > > > > I keep paper statements at least 3 years - in case of > > tax audit. > > > > Just my .02 > > > > -Ben > > > > > > ______________________________________________________________________ Get the mailserver that powers this list at http://www.coolfusion.com Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists
