>From a Parkinson's web site: --- The causes of Parkinsons is not completely understood but a known cause is the degeneration of a group of nerves in the centre of the brain called the substantia nigra. These nerves produce a chemical messenger called dopamine. When 80% of dopamine is lost, the symptoms of Parkinsons disease are produced. At present, it is not known what causes the degeneration of the substantia nigra. ---
I would also like to add that dopamine enhancers like L-Dopa are one of the only medically documented aphrodesiacs. So there's a potential that Florida could have a randy Reno running the State. - Kevin Graeme > -----Original Message----- > From: Kevin Gilchrist [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Monday, September 09, 2002 1:37 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: RE: Janet Reno in Florida > > > Dude, I think you have it bass ackwards! > Dopamine imbalances are usually associated with Schizophrenia (although > it's more complicated than that). > > The cause of Parkinson's is not known. > > -----Original Message----- > From: jon hall [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Monday, September 09, 2002 2:26 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: Re: Janet Reno in Florida > > Chemical imbalances are the root of most mental disorders...I believe > that Parkinson's is the inability of the brain to manufacture > sufficient levels of dopamine (I might be wrong there, but I'm close > if not).
