I can't tell if you are playfully trolling, purposefully obtuse, or really unsure of
the meaning of mental illness.

Assuming it is the last option, below is a better definition. Simply defining the
meaning of each word and sticking them together seldom works in the English language.

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition

mental illness
n.
Any of various conditions characterized by impairment of an individual's normal
cognitive, emotional, or behavioral functioning, and caused by social, psychological,
biochemical, genetic, or other factors, such as infection or head trauma. Also called
emotional illness, mental disease, mental disorder.

So conditions such as Epilepsy, Parkinson's, Left handedness (just kidding) do not
fall under "mental illness"
