Greed and fanaticism.

The current Middle East conflict is said to be about the "occupied territoried"
(Really disputed territories
http://www.science.co.il/Arab-Israeli-conflict/Articles/Gold-2002-01-16.asp) and
Israels refusal tl give them up. This is far from the truth. During the first 20 years
of the Arab Israeli conflict, Egypt annexed the Gaza Strip and Jordan annexed the West
Bank. They wern't even under Israeli control but the war against Israel continued. No
one called them occupied then. No one said that they should go back to the
Palestinians then. And why are they in Israel's control now? Because Egypt and Jordan
attacked Israel again and once again failed.
And is it Israel's refusal to give up land for peace? Again this is shown by history
to be untrue. They gave up the entire Saini with all of its oil and other natural
resources to Egypt in return for a cold peace. They give a ton of water to Jordan
every year in return for peace. They were willing to give up almost everything to
Syria and the Palestinians in return for peace. The problem is that the Arabs (and
yes, I say Arabs in general) don't want peace with Israel. They want the destruction
of Israel.

> I'm fairly ignorant about the situation there (as i have said before), so why don't
>the Israeli's move out of that area and stop the conflict, if for nothing else the
>safety of their people, its obvious by now that the Palestinians will never stop?
Israel wanted to which is why there was Oslo and Wye and all of the other deals that
never went all the way. If Israel just up and leaves it'll be letting the terrorists
win. They could just build more rockets and attack Israeli cities at will. There has
to be a solid peace or there this will never end. Problem is, Arafat and his crew
don't want peace. They don't want Gaza and the West Bank. They want ALL of Israel (and
have said so many times publically).
Look at Lebanon. Israel pulled out of it cold turkey. The UN said that Israel had
pulled back to the proper location. The result? Hizballah attacks Israel almost daily.
They claim that a piece of Syrian land is theirs and uses that as an excuse. The UN,
who drew the lines don't support the Hizballah, Lebanese and Syrian position on this
but don't stop the attacks (that include international kidnapping).
Pulling out without a peace deal is suicide.

> Also what is the deal between Israel and america (there is obviously something going
>on)?
America is trying to keep peace in the area for various reasons. The easiest is that
if Israel is attacked and is going to lose, they have nothing to fear from nuking the
Arab world. America held Israel back when Skud missiles were launched at it from Iraq
(Israel was NOT part of the war but was a target anyway). America gives support to
Israel in just about the SAME AMOUNT as it does to Egypt. But no one ever complaines
about that.

> In the same way there is something going on between the US and the UK (the way the
>UK follows the US regardless of policy is disgracecful in my opinion),is it just to
>bolster the UK's position with Europe?
