I once found some code on the hp site which allowed me to change the ready
message on the printer on the fly from my pc.
So I put up this:
"OUCH, My print head hurts"

someone noticed right away and said something stupid like "ok, who changed
the message on the printer?"

Printer: "I did, me"
Stupid: "Who is Me?"
Printer: "HP 5SI, printer"
Stupid: "The printer is talking to me"
Printer: "Yes, I am"
Stupid: "Printers can't talk".....

Eventually I got in trouble for this escapade. I was forced to put "READY"
back on the printer.

The second best office prank was quite simple:
We put an "Autocorrect" in my bosses email that changed his name to
"Complete A**hole"
Every time he typed his name the computer changed it to "Complete A**hole",
without the *'s of course.

Third best office prank:
We wrote a small vb program that ran at startup that made a copy of the
screen every time a certain series of characters were typed. The copy of
the screen was then displayed to the user so that he couldn't click on
anything, type anything. It could be exited by getting to the task manager
and killing the application. We set it to run whenever the person in
question typed his name.
