Here in Washington they have been rolling out the new credit card style license over the last few years (finally!! -- It was strange going from Kansas, where they had CC licenses for several years, to WA, supposedly more technologically advanced and back to an older style license).
When my wife got her license renewed in January this year she got a business card sized *paper* "license" that she could use until she got her real one in the mail. It was black ink on a grey mottled paper (prolly to prevent copying). When I got my license renewed in April (at a different DOL station) they ran my new card right out of a machine so I didn't have to wait at all... will ---- William H.
