Landscape photography... gets you out and gives you the thrill of hunting
without the carnage... a hint I heard is to never go out when it rains
without your camera, gives you chances for interesting light and shadow.
Another one is making bread - preferably sourdough - something to slow you
down and ground you - don't use a machine, kneading is very therapeutic -
I'm allergic to wheat or I would do it more often.
Sketching - sketch your children or pets, they can teach you about drawing
from real life as opposed to from pictures and teach you too see the world
more clearly.
Singing - join a choir or barbershop chorus or a band - singing is the only
one of the above I still do much of and it truly soothes the savage beast.
Plus there is a lot of cool techie stuff you can buy and hook up to your
computer to do sound recording. Learning an instrument - get a good teacher
- is really cool too and you can do it at any age. The new digital pianos
sound like grand pianos and cost far less.... it's very relaxing to play
and/or doodle on the piano.
