Its easy to demonize people for their choices. SUVs are an easy target, they are large and they have a number of people who drive them.
People point to the super large Lincolns, Fords, Chevys, and other and complain, but the majority of the ones I see are the smaller Jeeps, Fords, Izzuzzzuzzzuzu ;), and others. Now, at the same time, the auto makers do have technologies they can roll out that would make the gas mileage better and the pollution less. But the people don't demand it. But I agree with you Erika the difference of one or two miles a gallon isn't that big. But people need a target, those two miles give the complainers something to complain about, a target.
