Jim,

What are your feelings on the treaties signed by Iraq at the end of the Gulf war
agreeing to voluntarily disarm, get rid of all WMD, other weaponry (such as long range
missiles)?

Should the Iraqis be held to these agreements?
What should be the penalties for not upholding them?

What about their obligations to the world community?

His army is pitiful. Truly, truly pitiful... At least compared to ours.

Yes it's large by world standards but there are only a handful of
countries that actually maintain a standing army so "large" is
incredibly relative.

I've seen no evidence proving he has large amounts of anything. The
actual numbers I hear all in single digits ("six SCUDs", "three casing
capable of chemical delivery", etc). There's some circumstantial
evidence, but no proof at all.

This is just a ridiculous statement. What he would do has no bearing on
the case - what he is doing does. What are we playing "Minority Report"
politics now?

Still we have regulary ignored similar expanistic actions in Africa and
southeast Asia... Why focus on this one and not others?

I did - they said "No". I can find no evidence that these practices
have continued for the past 10 years (under sanctions). Again, should
it come to light (using a little thing we like to call "evidence") that
such practices are continuing it would strengthen the case for war.

Although again, there are documented cases of this in Southeast asia and
Africa that are going ignored or being met with diplomacy. What not
this one?

Again there is no PROOF that this is the case. Also none of the weapons
mentioned would, or could change the global balance of power as
ballistic missiles or jet fighter technology could have.

As I said the differences are in degree, not in kind, but the degree is
enormous. Too enormous, I think, for any reasonable comparisons to be
made.
