Andy, Are you saying the people who are coming and blowing up Jews (really Israelis) are doing it for good reason?
Or that Israelis have a good reason to distrust those coming to blow them up? Jerry Johnson >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 03/26/03 12:14PM >>> For good reason. For what is happening today. and in the recent past, say 20-30 years..... OK, I gotta get back to work. This memory thing is a personal soap-box of mine. Peace. That is the context for my comment. If so, then yes, I'd so move on, get over with it. How does continuing the hatred through repetition of the event help? -----Original Message----- From: Haggerty, Mike [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, March 26, 2003 10:23 AM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: Empire-Building ROTFLOL! That's a funny comment. Well, we got a good deal of it out in 1917, and you're right, centuries of oppression really means nothing to us today (as long as you can overlook what actually happened, the horror of which words cannot describe, and not tie them into present inequities which can be viewed as a direct result of what occured). It's probably time to forget and just be friends, and I really do think that's what's happening anyways ;^) You have an interesting view on history. If all it should be used for is to inspire new action, what would be the purpose of Exodus? Should we forget how cruel Pharoah was, and just say Moses did a good job? For some reason, I think our memories have more value than that... This long memory for past atrocities leads to present and future atrocities. At what point in time do you need to just get over it? Move on. You can not change the past, only use it to prevent repeating it.
