You seem to be forgetting about the mistresses of FDR, Eisenhower, and JFK (with Marilyn Monroe, even) - not to mention Jimmy Carter's lust in his heart. Difference = after Gary Hart's presidential campaign, when he challenged the press to follow him around, and they discovered his affair with Donna Rice, the press gave up their former unwritten agreement not to report political peccadilloes. Clinton, unfortunately, was the first president put in the spotlight on it.
