Of course that's also been blown out of proportion (there's only been
one death due to tree spiking for example - and that was due to a
missing debris guard at the lumber mill). This is simpy due to the fact
that any commerical lumber equipment really doesn't have a problem
cutting through spikes - it does dull and damage the equipment

But the point is correct. Most monkey wrenchers are specifically aiming
to inflict economic damage and protect the trees but in any group there
are those that lose sight of reality.

Even groups like Peta used to be (way back when!) worth listening to but
in the past few years the extreme voice has completely overshadowed
their mission. The same goes groups like EarthFirst!, followers of Pat
Robertson and Rush and many, many others.

Very little good in my opinion can come from any extreme viewpoint.
Statements like "There are some bad republicans but no good democrats.",
"The only good >anything< is a dead >anything<.", "Meat is murder", etc
- all cause harm than good (in my opinion).
