Or a Green Day concert. Here in Boston the local alternative station
used to host bands on the Esplanade in the Hatch Shell (home of the
Boston Pops). The adjoining neighborhood (Beacon Hill) was basically
ransacked during the walk home (broken windows, overturned benches,
theft, etc). That was the last year that concert series was held there.

Of course this isn't premeditated. Mob mentality is tremdously
powerful. A peace march, a right-to-life demonstration, a little league
game - whatever - can turn ugly very quickly. It's just human nature.

This doesn't mean that whe shouldn't congregate of course, but it does
mean that we need to be aware of this when we congregate. I applaud
those demonstrations that specify acceptable activities (and responses
to opponents) in advance.
