Excellent essay, even if somewhat exaggerated in places, references enough fact
to pretty well establish that the US is currently governed by a gang of crooks.
Knowing the details as they apply to each country on the globe, it is no wonder
why so much of the world resents the US. Of course Dubya spins it as being
"anti-freedom" I guess in his dictionary, freedom is defined as the authority
to rape and pillage any country for the personal self interest of the
participants in its government.

Add to that, the huge tax cuts granted to those who had previously been left out
by the policies granting exemption to corporations, whose contributions to the
revenue of the US government has been dropping steadily. Most amazing of all is
how many of the rank and file middle class conservative types continue to
support this gang. Even as you watch your retirement savings dwindle away, your
income continues to drop, jobs simply evaporating and your government's debt
jumping to record levels from surpluses only a few short years ago. This has
long been the Republican Mantra, and that is to borrow against the future to
benefit a few in the present. You can try to spin it any way you want to, the
end result is the same.

Were it not for the unbridled greed of the graduate MBAs of the past thirty or
so years, none of this would have ever been made public. The most disturbing of
all, is that now that it is public, the worst case scenario for the crooked
corporate management is that they get to keep their ill gotten gains and will
pay little or no penalties for their mis-conduct. That is, as long as they
continue to be major contributors of money to the politicians that regulate
them.

Agreed that this is not strictly a Republican issue, (41% to Democrats, 59% to
Republicans) they are in the position to create a "return to moral
responsibility." What a pipe dream that would be, because they are just not
going to do that. It is not a need to create more criminal laws either, because
they are already on the books and have been for years. The political party in
power controls who gets prosecuted, and their track records shows they do not
indict their friends. Contributors are friends, you know?

On a lighter side, The article mentioned that the average wage in Nigeria is $1
per day, and according to the spew of email that I receive, there are literally
hundreds of millions stashed here and there, that only with my help can the
Nigerians individuals rise above the poverty level. Gee, if only the offered
commissions could be directed to reduction of the National Debt, there would be
no deficit and no one would begrudge the obscene theft in progress by some
corporate executives.

Ahh, so much for my Sunday Morning analysis, got to get ready to go to church!
