Easiest way to tell if it's a snapper or not: wave a stick near its face. If it snaps, it's a snapper. : approach them pull their extremities into their shell at least : partly. This : turle just turns to face you. I put on some heavy duty leather gloves and : picked her up. I'll be she weighs 15 pounds at least, she is like : 16 or so : inches across her shell and does not like to be picked up. Momma rabbits don't like people smells, and may reject the baby. It really depends on how picky and/or used to people the momma is. If they are living in/near your garden, chances are all is well.
