Turtles:
Well, they live practically forever, and maybe this one has run into "our
kind" before. :-)
Rabbits:
I suppose it depends on what kinda den they're in. (heehee that rhymed)
I've seen babies whose "den" was essentially a hollow under a bush -- they
kept crawling out and the parental unit (I assume mother) kept shooing them
back in. They were obviously too young to be out on their own. I mean,
they weren't even old enough to buy smokes.
Anyhoo, I may have misinterpreted what you said. When you said "baby" I
assumed that it was still under the care of an older beastie, but if you
think it was out on its own, I'll trust your judgement.

: I tried that, but this turtle just looked at the stick. It only snapped

:
: As for baby rabbits, I thought once they left the den they were

: so mamma could get knocked up again?

: : I have been seeing this big turtle around for a week or so, but

: : We were weeding another flower bed when we saw some baby rabbits
