I tried that, but this turtle just looked at the stick. It only snapped
after I started picking it up, then it got pissed off. I was just looking at
the stick like, hey buddy that isn't flesh, and I'm not wasting my time.

As for baby rabbits, I thought once they left the den they were on their own
so mamma could get knocked up again?

Easiest way to tell if it's a snapper or not: wave a stick near its face.
If it snaps, it's a snapper.

Easiest way to pick up a snapper: remember that stick it snapped at? If
you used a big stick, you now have a handle.

: We have a large garter snake (about 3 feet long) that lives in
: our vegetable
: garden. I was able to pick that up for my kids using the method I saw on
: animal planet a million times, where you hold the tail and
: support the head
: with a long stick. The kids got to pet it, and feel how soft snakes really
: are.

Snakes are cool.

: We were weeding another flower bed when we saw some baby rabbits
: (no bigger
: than the palm of your hand), and was able to catch one using the kids'
: butterfly net. So they got to pet the rabbit as well. Put it back in the
: flower bed and it ran off.
:
: We never harm any of the animals that we live with, except the wasp's. We

Just so you know, you may have accidentally harmed that baby rabbit. Momma
rabbits don't like people smells, and may reject the baby. It really
depends on how picky and/or used to people the momma is. If they are living
in/near your garden, chances are all is well. Just be aware.

: Anyway, thought I would share this with the list, but hoping it didnt come
: off as flakey.....

What's wrong with flakey? I could use a croissant right now....
