Who decides what sides are legitimate?

Growing up in Maryland, I learned of the civil war in school. Friends and
relations from Virginia knew nothing of what I spoke, having been taught
about a 'War of Northern Aggression' instead.

I don't care what she does in her free time, as long as she keeps her bias
out of the classroom.  Present both sides of arguments if you are a teacher,
whether you agree with them or not, that's your job.  What good is an
educator that only teaches one side of the story?
