I was taught that the British won. Larry duked it out with somebody over
this a few months back -- I had to go finish a paper or something -- and I
am not sure whether they settled on tied or not. If the British burned the
White House down though, I suspect that you have to get into some rather
Clintonian definitions of lose to say the Americans didn't lose. I think
the Canadian attitude is, unsuccessful invasion = loss.
