It's not so much a matter of not reading history as much as it is that the fact that it happened in the 90's as opposed to the 80's doesn't mean anything in an offhand conversation, so I'm not apt to waste my time going back and double-checking all the facts. It's not paying my bills.
Yes I think we could pull something that large off and get away with it. IIRC the report I read that claimed Osama was CIA trained was from a reasonably reputable news source like CNN... But then that's another problem with "news" and "history" -- it's too easily distorted or just plain inaccurate anyway. If you look at the WTC event in and of itself, there were dozens if not hundreds of retractions by news media for having made blatantly incorrect statements within the first few days. In many cases for no better reason than "well, that's what we heard". Far from not having enough news information, we had way too much, most of it wrong. I'm also not apt to believe all the facts in the CIA fact book can be taken at face value. They are in the business of disinformation after all. If you can't trust a sales person to give you good information about what you're buying because they have a vested interrest in your buying it (and you often can't), why would you trust someone who lies for a living to provide accurate information in a book published by the organization that pays their bills? It's the same sort of reasoning that defeats the idea that the christian Bible could possibly have been preserved as the "holy word of God" and "everlasting truth". 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." After telling adam and eve that the fruit is poisonous and will kill them, the snake tells them what the fruit really is and what it will really do to them, so they eat it and discover that the snake was telling the truth and then you have this: 22 And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." Jehova in this story is a fearful liar. The book can not be the mouthpiece for a deity that lies because otherwise it wouldn't present Jehova in a negative light, lying in the story. Therefore the christian Bible can only have been written by fallable men. The moral of the story: don't trust people who lie for a living. s. isaac dealey 972-490-6624 new epoch http://www.turnkey.to lead architect, tapestry cms http://products.turnkey.to tapestry api is opensource http://www.turnkey.to/tapi team macromedia volunteer http://www.macromedia.com/go/team certified advanced coldfusion 5 developer http://www.macromedia.com/v1/handlers/index.cfm?ID=21816 > Wow. > Are the black helicopters flying over your house right > now?
