There's a reason its called gerrymandering (historically, re-districting is
done after a census to ensure representation per state based on the
reapportionment of the population).

This was done after the census (as required by law).  What the republicans
are trying to do is to redistrict after its already been done.   Whether its
legal or not I don't know, I don't know Texas law.

Good response Jim. It makes me wonder - why not simply use grids for
districts. Who cares if a district has 2 people in it or 2 million. If a
grid was used there would be no arguments about this at all.
